Fairfax
Fairfax is a vibrant community of artists, musicians, sustainability activists, and the children of the 1960s counterculture movement. Less than 20 minutes from Point Reyes and around 30 from San Francisco, Fairfax serves as an ideal intermediate between city energy and rural peace. Broadway Boulevard runs parallel to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and is one of Marin’s best streets to stroll any day or night of the year. Residents have passed ordinances prohibiting chain stores and plastic/styrofoam packaging, leading to an active local business and farmers’ market culture. Local favorites include the Fairfax Coffee Roastery, a historic art-deco movie theater, the very cozy Sorella authentic Italian restaurant, Village Sake, The Scoop local ice cream, and a variety of local bars including Mac's Bar & Night Club–to name just a handful of favorites.
While I wish I was a skilled golfer, I find that one of life’s simple pleasures is sitting on the deck overlooking the golf course at the Meadow Club. Memberships are hard to come by, but members are not. Say yes to an invite!
Biking or Hiking around Alpine Dam, Lake Lagunitas and Bon Tempe is a wonderful way to spend some time exploring the great Marin outdoors.
Hiking Cascade Falls Trail with all the waterfalls is incredible! It’s a somewhat challenging hike, on a tight, single trail with quite a bit of climbing. The waterfalls, seemingly at every turn, make it worth the effort.
This dog-friendly loop is appropriate for all skill levels, so the whole family can go!
This easy hike features lake and mountain views through a mix of woods and open terrain.
