Corte Madera
Made up of several smaller neighborhoods, Corte Madera sits in the foothills below Mt Tamalpais, yet just about a 10-minute drive to the Golden Gate Bridge. The town is home to many thriving small businesses, including the independent Book Passage, which hosts classes, workshops, and readings by world-recognized authors. Right next door is Marin Power Yoga, which every week draws an impressive crowd of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds. Just above the neighborhoods in East Corte Madera is Ring Mountain Open Air preserve, where day hikers can enjoy breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. Corte Madera’s open-air malls are a favorite in Northern California and offer some of the best shopping in the state. Corte Madera and Larkspur share a school district.
A girl has gotta shop! There are two malls in Corte Madera, with great stores and restaurants at both: The Village and Town Center. On Wednesdays, there’s a Wednesday farmers’ market at Town Center.
Corte Madera Shorebird Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary is a birdwatcher’s paradise made up of 31 acres. It also makes for an easy stroll as it’s one of the most level trails around.
